Imerys’ minerals for Personal Care are sold under the ImerCare trade name and include products for opacifying, mattifying, gloss, absorption, rheology modification, and abrasion/exfoliation:

• Kaolin: A naturally occurring hydrated aluminium silicate. Careful processing results in soft, fine particles that are suitable for use in a variety of personal care products. The ImerCareTM “K” range has been specifically designed for formulations where purity, rheology and high whiteness are desired.

• Perlite: Perlite products are made from a volcanic glass which contains water in its inner structure. When heated rapidly, the steam produced expands the glass to form a foamed structure, which can be used, when processed in fine controlled particles, in many different personal care products. The ImerCareTM “P” range perfectly meets high purity, high absorption, excellent matting effect and gentle abrasiveness requirements. Larger particle sizes can also be used as exfoliating scrub particles.

• Diatomaceous Earth: A mineral material consisting chiefly of fragments of various species of fossilised remains of diatoms. It is divided into categories based on its source; freshwater or saltwater. Freshwater Diatomaceous Earth is mined from dry lake beds and Saltwater Diatomaceous Earth is mined from dry sea beds.

• Talc: Imerys offers the widest range of natural talc products to meet the performance and purity requirements of the personal care industry. ImerCare talcs provide good sensory properties, such as a silky and soft feel in powders and emulsions and innovative optical properties in powder make-up formulations. All ImerCare talc grades are Cosmos approved.
