Maracuja Oil is prepared by a solvent-free cold pressing method from Maracuja (Passiflora Edulis) Seeds. The oil is a yellow colour and has a non-greasy, non-sticky texture with rapid absorption. Passion fruit is an exotic, tropical delight known for its fragrance and highly recognisable taste. The Brazilian variety, Passiflora Edulis, also known as Maracuja, stands out for its size and yellow-gold fruits. In Brazil, the fruit is the most highly appreciated part of the plant (more so than in Europe, where the flowering tops are used for their relaxing properties). Tangled inside the pulp of these fruits, their crunchy seeds yield an oil when pressed; this oil is used in traditional medicine for its high content of poly-unsaturated fatty acids. Linoleic and Oleic Acid, in particular, confer moisturising, restructuring and soothing properties (Omega 6) as well as the ability to limit deterioration of elastic tissue (Omega 9).
