Hybrid AE



Hybrid AE is a mixture of Avobenzone (30%, UVA filter) and Ethyl Triazone (15%, UVB filter) which is encapsulated in a 5 micron PMMA microsphere. Hybrid AE can be dispersed in the aqueous phase of emulsions.

Hybrid AE is a mixture of 30% Avobenzone (UVA filter) and 15% Ethyl Triazone (UVB filter) which is encapsulated in a 5 micron PMMA microsphere. Hybrid AE can be dispersed in the aqueous phase of oil-in-water emulsions which is ideal for achieving a light skin feel and high SPF (incorporating Hybrid AE into the aqueous phase menas you can add extra total UV filter content to the formulation).

Avobenzone is a chemical UVA filter that is susceptible to crystallisation and also has poor compatibility with metal oxides such as Alumina (the most common coating for Titanium Dioxide) and poor photo-stability. Hybrid AE solves these issues by encapsulating Avobenzone inside a polymer microsphere. This protects the Avobenzone and helps to improve compatibility and photo-stability.

EHT is usually a chemical UVB filter; however, Sunjin have found that the EHT in Hybrid AE seems to contribute extra UVA protection in sunscreen formulations. Hybrid AE is therefore a great UVA and UVB filter.
