Glycofilm 1.5P

Glycofilm 1.5P is a polysaccharide which forms a non-occlusive film on the skin and hair to protect against pollution. The protection offered by Glycofilm is designed to prevent the appearance or aggravation of premature ageing and cutaneous disorders tied to pollution.

The stratum corneum layer of the skin plays the role of protective barrier between the body and its environment. In addition to the damage caused to skin by UV light, atmospheric pollutants in our daily environment must also be considered as a major source of cutaneous stress. Over the past few years, lifestyle changes and increasing urbanisation worldwide have amplified the issue of pollution damage to the skin. Skin cells (the lipid and protein components, and DNA) are major targets for pollutants, which generate oxidation and inflammation. This can lead to premature ageing, acne, irritable and sensitive skin, atopic dermatitis and eczema, dry skin, redness and itching.

How deeply pollutants are absorbed in skin depends on the nature of the pollutant and the condition of the outer epidermis. Prolonged, repetitive exposure to high levels of pollutants overwhelms the skin's natural defence capabilities, causing the barrier to weaken and damage to spread. It is possible to increase the skin's protective ability by providing a shield that "breathes" and acts like a second skin to keep pollutants from being absorbed and thus reducing the damage they cause.

Glycofilm 1.5P is a deacetylated, branched polysaccharide with a high molecular weight, which forms a non-occlusive film on the skin and hair. Glycofilm 1.5P forms a non-selective matrix and builds a protective barrier against the types of pollution that make up our daily environment: atmospheric pollution (carbon and heavy metal particles and fine particles) and domestic pollution (chemical substances contained in personal care and household cleaning products). In this way, it can help to limit intra- and extracellular damage. The protection offered by Glycofilm 1.5P is physical and immediate, and is designed to prevent the appearance or aggravation of premature ageing and cutaneous disorders tied to pollution.

Note: Glycofilm 1.5P and Pollustop have the same efficacy but Glycofilm 1.5P contains Phenoxyethanol whereas Pollustop contains 1,2-Hexanediol.
